I remember long walks in the park All it took to fall in love was light conversation How you threw your head back when you laughed And how you’d stumble over words when frustrated Where did you go -oh -oh That girl with the dark purple hair Did you even know - ow -ow How much you made me care Do you remember When we felt alive When we danced to songs that only we knew In late september How we survived When you kissed me And I felt see through woo! In your trashy car, with that busted stereo we flew down highway 69 with the windows wide open We listened to your favorite songs way to loud We sang together, you let your hair out Where did you go -oh -oh That girl with the dark purple hair Did you even know - ow -ow How much you made me care And I’m so sorry I couldn't see past your smile That being said you were gone for quite a while And when I heard from you you only told me you were leaving I couldn't muster up the courage to say goodbye Do you remember When we felt alive When we danced to songs that only we knew In late september How we survived When you kissed me And I felt see through woo!

She called them conversation cigarettes Blue smoke rising from the tips It was the same night I became a prostitute Confessed over conversation cigarettes I’m suffering from American Spirit Blues Eagles near the filter that keep me too subdued I’m suffering from the American Spirit Blues Looking for salvation in my church pew I’m suffering from the American Spirit Blues Drinking Budweiser just to forget the news Holes in my friends apartment walls And blame it on the American Spirit Blues I don’t have to do this by myself I know that everyone feels them too The unshakeable isolation I felt Suffering From the American Spirit Blues

about

Midwest Telegram emerges out of the lovelorn, suburban pits of Kansas City's metro area to provide you a mashup of dreamy pop hits like "Suburban Misery" and "The Girl with the Dark Purple Hair" to folksy ballads like "American Spirit Blues." Born from unlikely origins, switching members, and slightly compromised by the adolescent pains of moving out of state, as well as an obscurist former name--the Rhizomes--Midwest Telegram's debut EP suits up to initiate a new generation of alternative kids into rhythms of DIY melancholic indie pop rock.
